This program provides crucial support to pregnant and parenting teens aged 10 to 18 years of age. By pairing them with dedicated mentors, the program fosters growth and empowerment. These mentor-mentee pairs meet weekly to collaboratively address education, career, and parenting goals

Our Reason Why

Tennessee holds the tenth position among the 50 states in terms of teen birth rates, with an average of 23.7 pregnancies per thousand females. This figure stands in stark contrast to the national average of 16.7. Specifically, in 2019, Rutherford County witnessed a startling 236 teen pregnancies. When considering overall rankings, Rutherford County lands at #17, while its regional ranking is an impressive #5. These pregnancies primarily affect young individuals aged 15 to 19 years. The situation calls for attention and targeted interventions to support these teens during this critical phase of their lives.

The Mission

K-MoMs is a sole one-on-one mentoring program specifically tailored for this unique population in Rutherford County. Through strategic outreach efforts by Stepping Stone Academy Foundation and prenatal coordination, the program maximizes its impact by connecting with as many teen moms as possible. This collaboration extends to the School District’s Teen Parent Program, ensuring a comprehensive approach.
